Each spring, the charming village of Carcoar comes alive with the sound of footsteps, cheers, and celebration. The Carcoar Running Festival (also known as the Carcoar Cup) is one of Australia’s most scenic and family-friendly running weekends — and it’s back from 1 to 2 November 2025.
From elite athletes to casual joggers and children just finding their stride, this inclusive event is more than just a race. It’s a weekend escape filled with country charm, heritage streetscapes, community stalls, and some of the most beautiful running routes in the country.
Festival Overview
Described as one of the “toughest and most beautiful” courses in Australia, the Carcoar Cup is a celebration of endurance, scenery, and connection. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or cheering from the sidelines with a coffee in hand, this weekend promises unforgettable moments.
The historic village of Carcoar, located just over 30 minutes from Orange, makes the perfect backdrop — with cobblestone streets, grand buildings, and rolling countryside. You’ll find exhibitions, food stalls, local markets, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere at every turn.
Events for Every Runner
Ultra Marathon – 60km | 7:00am Sunday
A test of true endurance, this event adds a demanding loop after the town of Neville. Expect sweeping vistas, steep climbs, and plenty of bragging rights.
Carcoar Cup Marathon – 42.2km | 8:00am Sunday
The main event winds through sealed and unsealed roads, past paddocks, across ridgelines, and into cheering town streets. A special category qualifier for the Six Foot Track.
Half Marathon – 21.1km | 8:45am Sunday (starts in Neville)
This popular race finishes through Mount Macquarie and offers stunning scenery without the full marathon commitment.
10K Special | 9:30am Sunday
Fast, fun, and mostly downhill — ideal for runners wanting a shorter challenge.
Carcoar to Creek Dash – 6km | 8:45am Sunday
Out and back with a small climb and fast return — great for new runners or those easing back into race mode.
Carcoar Cup for Kids – 1.8km | 8:15am Sunday
A scenic route through town just for the little ones — fun, energetic, and perfectly safe.
Carcoar Cup Great Walk – 10km | 10:00am Sunday
Not a runner? Walk the final 10km of the marathon course alongside the back of the pack, taking in incredible views and cheering runners on.
Team Relay Marathon | 8:00am Sunday
Split the marathon into 4 manageable legs and run with friends, family or colleagues. A beautiful way to get involved — together.
